Building an Interdependent Digital World
The UN Secretary General's High Level Panel on Digital Cooperation has released a new report that seeks to start a global discussion on how to turn our present digital era into an era of shared prosperity.
The report, titled "The Age of Digital Interdependence," is the result of nine months of consultations with diverse international organizations and communities worldwide, and serves as an advocacy instrument for digital cooperation.
The Panel’s report paints a picture of the interconnected nature of digital technology and makes recommendations for shaping our common digital future.
"Digital dividends co-exist with digital divides," states the report. "As technological change has accelerated, the mechanisms for cooperation and governance of this landscape have failed to keep pace. We hope this report and its recommendations will form part of the building blocks of an inclusive and interdependent digital world, with a fit-for-purpose new governance architecture.”
Last fall, CPD explored on the topic of digital cooperation during our event, "Public Diplomacy for the Digital Future," held at the Swedish Embassy in Washington, D.C. Check out exclusive content from the event here.
