The USC Center on Public Diplomacy compiles an electronic reader for the Summer Institute. A relevant bibliography will be part of the reader. In some instances, additional stand-alone articles will be assigned. Participants are expected to become familiar with the readings prior to the Institute. Due to the high cost of printing and duplication, we are unable to download and print reading materials. You will need to print them on your own.
COMPUTER, SMART PHONE, TABLETS
This program is highly interactive and participants must have a smart phone or tablet with them daily for group work on content creation. A laptop will be needed throughout the program to work on data and analytics. Participants must have these devices and bring them daily to the classes.
Upon receipt of final payment, CPD Summer Institute participants will be given access to the Summer Institute's "Basecamp" group. This virtual office space will be the repository of the reading assignments, course information, student handbook, lodging and dining options, and other program related materials. Each participant's Basecamp status will be live and active throughout the Summer Institute and then be closed 30 days post program.
Participants may choose to stay at any location in Los Angeles, and are responsible for arranging their own reservations and transportation to the USC campus. For those who wish to stay close to campus, the USC Hotel across the street is walking distance to the Summer Institute.

Participants are responsible for arranging their own travel to, from, and around Los Angeles. If you will be flying into the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), there is a flat rate to Downtown Los Angeles offered by many taxi companies (approximately $65 USD) to get to campus. A less expensive option is to reserve a seat on an airport shuttle service.
